This is a collection of the weekly newspaper column, Evergreen Tales, which were made available to newspapers throughout Washington State. It was factual information concerned primarily with Washington State, its history and description. It was provided free of charge from the Washington State Library (WSL). The collection also includes copies of the correspondence to the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association concerning the establishment of the column and which newspapers might be interested in carrying the column. WSL ran the column until approximately October 14, 1952.

Maud P. Mitchell was born about 1883 in Oregon. She married Chas. R. Mitchell and by 1920 they were living in Chehalis, WA. Charles was an assistant cashier at the bank. Charles had become a banker by 1930. Between 1957 & 1958 Charles passed away. And Maud passed away on 29 May 1960 in Chehalis, WA.
